Honda WRV 2021 Official Review. Positives, Negatives of WRV Model

Honda WRV 2021 Official Review. Positives, Negatives of WRV Model

Looking to Buy Honda WRV in 2021. Review in the Positives, Negatives of Honda WRV Crossover with Top 5 Positives and Negatives of Car

Honda WRV Official Review

Honda WRV is the only Crossover from Honda Cars India Portfolio in 2021, Available only in Manual Transmission, here is what can expect from Honda WRV

Engine Performance, Drive and Handling: This is the same 1.2 Litre Engine with 90 PS Power as used in Jazz and Amaze but due to higher weight is what tuned for superior low end performance.

Suspension is well sorted and offers balanced ride. With Light Steering, Good all Round Visibility and raised ground clearance of 188 mm - you can expect Honda WRV to offer good amount of Feel, Feedback. Clutch is light side too.

However - the only issue to view is slight Notchy Gear Shift. They definite do not feel as smooth and slight hard with an effort needed as against contemporary Maruti or Hyundai Cars.

1.2 Litre Engine although good in itself on standalone basis but when is put in comparison against

  • Venue Turbo
  • Sonet Turbo
  • XUV300 Petrol GDI
  • Nexon Turbo Petrol
  • or Brezza 1.5, Urband Cruiser 1.5 or Ford Ecosport 1.5

it feels that Honda WRV is least powerful in lot and other cars are more fun with superior Power Delivery. Shockingly, WRV is still only offered in Manual Transmission and no Automatic Transmission, despite of competition brands offering Automatic as Choice in there range.

2. Space: Class Leading Spacious Cabin in legroom for 5 Adults in Sub 4 Meter Segment. Very Marginal Difference in Seating Space of WRV and S Cross (where S cross marginally leads).

However issue is that Rear Seat Headrest are just too small and somehow been floor set to a higher position, taller passenger sitting on rear seat will find there head almost touching roof. Even no Rear Center Seat Armrest too

Honda WRV Interior

3. Suspension: Well Tuned and is a key highlight with 188mm ground clearance. Although is not an off roader, but you will love in Suspension Dynamics of WRV to take on relative bad roads at ease.

4. Styling & Features: Exterior Styling looks Classy. Feels Premium and overall Aesthetics with Piano Black Finish, Fit and Finish all appeals in car at best. Comes with Electric Sunroof as key highlight which most Indians are fascinated at. If you thinking to compare Jazz and WRV then definite basis Alloy Design, Wider Wheel, Front Profile, Cladding, Blacked Interior theme - WRV feels more upmarket.

5. Build, Safety Features: Build Quality of WRV is impressive. However car just comes with standard safety of ABS, DUal Airbags. Yes no ESP, no Traction Control, no TPMS, no Side Airbag and no Curtain Airbag in advanced Safety.

6. Reliability, Service: Honda reliability and 1 year service interval. With a standard Warranty of 3 Years, extendable to 5 Years and anytime warranty upto 10 Years - Honda WRV is very reliable and in after sales service with longer replacement interval of Fuel Filter, Coolant - expect top notch experience in Honda

7. Infotainment: Although Honda WRV sound clarity is good and offered in Digipad 2.0 which offers Android Auto and Apple Car Play but somehow the brightness and resolution feels average. Offered in Multi Mode Camera Set up

Overall Recommendation for Honda WRV

Choose WRV where you seek a Car with

  • Majorly City Usage
  • Rear Seat Passengers are of height under 5'5"
  • Seek Comfort Oriented Ride, Good Suspension
  • Good Build, Steering and Handling Character

But - somehow gear shifts are not as smooth or ease as otherwise expected. It needs slight effort and definite Automatic Car is surely missed in here. Had same been offered in WRV - it could have emerged as top pick for Urban City Use with sheer Convenience.

Dear Mr Gagan ji,
Kindly give your suggestion for my purchase. First of all i would like to prefer for petrol engine because my usage will not be more (hope this concept is right now correct or not i dont know).
Then i was in confusion between to choose top model petrol versions of the following cars. First is WRV, 2. I20 Active, 3. eco sports. As it is gonna to be my first car so i am in more confusion for choosing which brand. Also kindly suggests in the view of driving enjoyability, features, post purchase service cost and safety. Thanks in advance

Hello im manav sharma I brought wr v yesterday from courtesy honda Shimla simply the best. And the car i brought is the second wr v in all over Himachal. So it was a big pride. In first site i luv this car. And it is more excellent from my expetations. It has great feature. That a 20lakh car provide. As i live in upper hp hilly area and i can surely feel the power of the new car. Its eps does a great work. And for sunroof and other features are increable i have no words. And car is giving me a avg. of 19kmpl in hilly areas it is more than expected and in plains it give me 23-24kmpl. Its engiene gives a type of smoothness and refinement as Mercedes c class engiene I had took a test drive of merci c. And there is pride name of honda an international company and good resale value. So i prefrer wr v over breeza and ecosport. And btw i had seen many reviews in which people are saying that desil engine is noisy.
But i want to say that it too much quieter than breeza's 1.2l engiene. And it is a very nice car. Don't think just book this car before it gets a long waiting period.
If you like my review then just give me your blessings

Hi, Wonderful review, as of now I am using a Toyota Etios Petrol V initial model bought in 2011, Its time to change the vehicle and I use car very less in these 6.5 years my car only roamed around 44000 km, and I am looking for a fully loaded Hatchback this time
WRV is in my list, The only thing wrv is dragging me towards it is the Sun roof which my kids will enjoy, My friend has a Honda City which has sunroof and my kids enjoy that like anything whenever we ride that
my budget is max 10-11 Lacs and I Prefer Petrol Variants only

Please suggest me

My suggestion wait for the ecosport facelift, if you are not in hurry, wrv seems expensive for the price as it has very limited features, sunroof is just for show off, how many people drive car with out aircondition , no ac vents, no hand rest in the rear, not even projector head lamps no automatic head lights, fixed head rest on the head rest makes the car feature less and steep for the price.

Thanks for providing in choices
I found rear headroom space quiet limited in WRV, as against Honda Jazz

Even i sat on Honda City and found much difference in seating fabric with much soft and plush fabric in Honda City
Have decided to go for Honda City SV MT instead of WRV
So - what if i am not getting Sunroof or AVN or Alloys - but i am getting a bigger car, proven car, 1.5 litre engine and much more space
Trusting in Honda brand, i wished had Honda Cars India provided in Sunroof in Jazz Vx Model model and priced it at around 8 Lakh - i could have possibly taken Jazz - but in almost similar pruce - Honda City SV MT is a better car

Hi Gagan,

Excellent comparision review.
Need your asistance to choose the best between Maruti S cross, Honda WRV, Hyundai i20 Active & Hyundai 1.4 Creta diesel, which is the best happy riding & fun to drive car? Please advise.

S Cross - 1.3 Zeta features & price almost same as WRV except sunroof, but need to know how it handles, rides & fun to drive car than Creta,WRV, honda city& hyundai i20?. Also when is the facelift coming.

Hyundai i20 active - Exterior & Interior looks better than current S Cross, but need to know how it handles, ride comfort , fun to drive compared to S Cross, Creta & WRV.

Hyundai Creta 1.4 diesel - base model only due to budget constraints, excellent looks among all these, need to know whether it is more stable, fun to drive than S Cross, i20, WRV?

Ford ecosport looks tall, doesnt feel confident around corners due to its tall stance . Also crap interiors & little bumpy ride, hence not considering.

Thanks,
Jishu.

@ Jishu

Given - Drive-ability, Performance Pep, Engine Noise Levels - Will Pick Hyundai I20 Active Diesel as marginally ahead of WRV

I20 Active Sx Diesel has some features - Curtain and Side Airbags, Rear AC Vents, Projector Headlights and if looking for a car for 4 Adults with more Safety, Comfort of Rear AC Vents and if ready to forego Sunroof appeal in WRV then - I20 Active Sx Diesel has a strong point for best crossover car in Safety and Drive-ability

Hi Gagan,

Thanks for the reply. I had test driven Hyundai i20 active looks, features are best for its price, but its main issue is lack of steering feedback, its too light for those who loves to drive.
Dont know about Honda WRV steering & drivability. Need to know which is the best car having more steering feedback & fun to drive factor among these three - Hyundai i20 active, Honda WRV & Maruti S Cross.

Thanks,
Jishu.

Thanks for the great review and esp. comparison with other products in the same price range. In your opinion which one would you go for, wrv vx diesel or scross 1.3 zeta? Almost same price, space, features for both. wrv better engine but scross is c class..a segment above. would you wait for s cross facelift?

@ Amit

Will recommend Honda WRV VX Diesel
> Sunroof - its a pride feel for family
> Superior Engine Performance
> Some other add on - Cruise Control, Multi Mode Rear View Camera as against Single Mode Rear View Camera in S Cross Zeta
