Verified with the vin number near the engine bay (MA3Fxxxx) the 4th character is not matching with one I received through SMS (MA3Rxxxx) from RTO. Will it create problems for me in future. Shall I get it changed from dealer. Please help

Hello Richard,

Regret delay in reply - yes - you should get it changed and get correct one updated in RC
Think of this way -
> Insurance Policy has different Engine Number and RC Book will have different engine number - whenever you will sell the car - it will be difficult to transfer it
> or even if a claim comes in - Insurance company may hold the claim if Engine Number mis-matches with the engine number of the car

Take the dealer for a ride to get this corrected on asap basis... All the best !!

Hi Anand,

I contacted customer care but they were not able to tell me properly. They asked me to send the VIN number through mail but I didn't do. For your confirmation you can check the metal label in the bonnet where you can find the VIN number and at last line you will find manufacturer month and year mine was AD that is Jan 2013, so check for the that. As admin said 7th and 9th digit are the month and year for Chevy.

Thanks,
Karthik

Hi Gagan Modi,

This is a small clarification regarding Chevy chassis number.. I have booked Chevy Beat Diesel and the chassis number for the same is MA6BFBANDCT051021. As per the post 7 letter is month and 9th letter is year so my car would be Jan 2013. But my question is few sites, they mentioned as 9 is the month and 10th is the Year so am very much confused.

Even when I tried my chassis number it came as 2012 April and when i tried Ayushi (from the above comments) VIN number the output is APRIL 2013 how is this possible..?

Extra info in my car bonnet it is stamped as manufactured date and month as AD which comes as Jan 2013.

Can you please confirm whether which is correct 7&9 or 9&10 for month & Year respectively.
Your input is very valuable Thanks in advance..
