Planning to attend in Republic Day Parade. Sharing in Personal Experience along with Important Advisory on Tickets, Parking, Entry, Parade Experience

My Republic Day Experience

India is probably the only country in the world, having huge diversity with different religions yet a similarity of love, affection and equality of religions

We in 21st Century and part of Modern India moving towards technological advancements yet carrying the root values intact. To get a feel of Diverse Modern India, unified in one layer of Passion and Proud Achievements in a glimpse of 90 minutes – is what Republic Day Parade is all about

I got an opportunity to make a visit to Republic Day Parade with my better half and my adorable kids this on 67th Republic Day Festival on 26th January 2016  and here is my experience for same

Republic Day Tickets (Prices and Seating Difference)

However - you can get information by dialing 1363 (Toursim Helpline) or this number 011-23011204 about sale of tickets and Venues for Sale of Tickets. Tickets are generally available from 10am till 5pm in evening.

This year the Venues for Sale of Republic Day Tickets were :- Sena Bhawan, Jantar Mantar, Pragati Maidan, Shastri Bhawan, Parliament House reception office – as some of the venues known

There are 2 Categories – Reserved and Unreserved seats. Reserved seats cost in Rs 500, while in Unreserved seats – the classification is of Rs 100, 50 and Rs 20 seats. Reserved seats are best as your seat number is reserved and even closer to the VIP Zone – so can see all acts. While in Unreserved seats – your seating is bit far and seats are on First come – First Serve basis

No need to take Tickets for Kids less than 10 years of age – they can sit on durries in front for even better view. Entry free for Kids less than 10 years of age, if accompanied with an adult.

Important while Buying Republic Day Tickets

You need to carry a Government ID Proof – UID Aadhaar Card, Election Card, Passport etc to show at the counter for buying Tickets

Parking Pass: You need to ask for a Parking Pass, at the time of buying tickets (if you do not ask for - you may not get it) which has to be displayed on Car Windshield at all times – else your entry will be restricted by the Traffic Police out there.  Do ask in for Parking Pass, Triangular Pass will be for Parking in South Block and Rectangular Pass will be there for North Block

Car: You need to tell in vehicle registration number which will be taken by you on the republic day. As the vehicle number would be mentioned on the Parking Ticket Pass by the Officer selling republic day ticket.

On Republic Day

Republic Day Parade Arrival: Try to reach the venue atleast 2 hours i.e. before 8am – to get designated parking slots. So – plan your travel accordingly. After Parking – there are many enclosures – check your ticket and move accordingly towards the enclosure allotted. Also – do not miss to re-check on parked location – so that can easily track in your vehicle, post exit. Show in your Ticket with ID Proof at the Respective Enclosure.

Things Allowed & Not Allowed: Its important to know that – Remote Controlled Car Key Locks are not allowed to take inside, No Hand Bag, No Food Items, No Bottles, No Cameras, No Binoculars and even no umbrellas too are allowed to take Inside

Mobile Phones were though allowed by security, when we visited if kept on silent mode.  Though a restriction on camera is mentioned – but were okay to click photos using mobile phone camera

Post Entry in Seating Enclosure:

You will actually be mesmerized by the passion and patriotic feel in the enclosure. The Entry of Prime Minister, Chief Guest and President in Armour Benz and BMW Range Cars along with Security Armed Forces is something to be seen

The National Anthem with Gun Salute followed by Ceremony of March pasts, Navy bands, Armed Forces, Women Forces, Tanks, Missiles, Modern Weapons along with Sync by Helicopters, Motor Cycle Rides, Fighter Planes – all mesmerize the visit in unforgettable experience of a lifetime

Trust – the time passes by fly and you will be charged up with a feel that the parade once over – will rejuvenate you with Passion of love and Proud feel for your country.

See how PM Modi Walking on Rajpath after Parade was over and acknowledging love of People

Important Tips: May Find Useful if Intending to Visit Republic Day Parade

You may like to thank for these important Pointer Tips:-

Ticket Block Preference: There are 2 Seating Venues – North Block and South Block. Please do mention your location preference at time of buying tickets.

If you coming from South Delhi Side i.e. through Akbar Road, Chanakyapuri, Dhaula Kuan, Man Singh Road – take South Block Tickets. If you coming through Ashoka Road, KG Marg, Cannuaght Place, Barakhamba Road, Tilak Marg, Firozshah Road – take tickets of North Block

Parking Pass: Ask for Parking Pass at time of Buying Tickets. If you wont ask for it - may not get it. Also - one may be asked to show in RC / Smart Card of Vehicle intending to bring it on the day of Parade before handing over Parking Pass

Have Food Before Entering Venue: If having Kids or for yourself too – have Food wrapped in and eat in before entering the venue – as no Eatables and even no water bottle is allowed to take inside and neither served inside, unsure why ? Remember - you would be able to get out of the venue only after 11.30am. So why on a hunger strike

Inside the Venue: Seats are Quiet Wet due to Fogs, though newspapers were not allowed by security (have taken 2 newspapers - one give to my better half and one with me) - Somehow - could take one inside and was able to clean on the seats.

So - are you gear up for atteding the big event of 2017 Republic day at Rajpath !!

Hello,

We took mobile phones inside last year and not only us but most of the visitors were carrying mobile phones
The above video in blog post was taken through mobile only

Unless - there is any specific announcement regarding ban on mobile as announced - which we have not heard of, there should not be any issue in taking on mobile phones in republic day parade
