IRCTC Cancellation Charges

Indian Trains can be now booked upto 120 days (roughly 4 months in advance). But – the revised Cancellation charges would slight discourage in Non-Serious Passengers

There has been a Steep Hike to Extent of 100% including new Norms for Refund - wherein no refund would be allowed post departure of Train.

Know the New Cancellation Slabs of Indian Railways

    AC 2 Tier / First Class Rs 200 per Passenger
    Ac 3 Tier / AC Chair Car Rs 180 per Passenger
    Sleeper Class Rs 120 per Passenger
    Second Class Rs 60 per Passenger
B If Cancellation done in between 12 hr to 48 hr All Classes 25% of Ticket Fare or Minimum Cancellation Charges as mentioned in Slab A
C If Cancellation done in between 4 hr to 12 hr All Classes 50% of Ticket Fare or Minimum Cancellation Charges as mentioned in Slab A
D Tatkal Tickets, If Cancelled more than 24 hrs ago All Classes 25% of Fare
E Tatkal Tickets, If Cancelled less than 24 hrs ago All Classes No Refund
F Train Missed All Classes No Refund of Ticket Fare
G RAC Ticket or Waitlisted All Classes Ticket Price provided Cancellation done atleast 30 minutes before departure. Else - no Refund would be provided

Additional: Rs 20 as IRCTC Service Charge on E Ticket for All AC Coaches, and Bank Charges if any applicable would also be deducted while issuing Refund

This is applicable with Immediate Effect and applicable on Cancellations from 12th November Onwards. Also - now its possible to book a railway ticket online even upto 30 minutes prior to the departure of a train. There will now be 2 Reservation Charts - First reservation chart would be 4 hours prior to departure of a train while second one would be 30 minutes before the train departs.

Choose your Preferred Seats

At the time of Booking Tickets - one can mark in a Preference of 

» Book only if 2 Lower Berths are allotted  

» Book only if atleast 1 Lower Berth is allotted  

» Book only if All Berths are in same Coach  


Once Payment Done - and if Preferred Seats are not available, it will show a message that the Preferred Seats are not available. Do you still want to continue booking. Choose No and the tickets will not be booked and 100% amount will be refunded

No Cancellation Charges would be imposed if the Preferred Seats are Unavailable and Customer ticks in option of not to book tickets.
