Dry Days in 2023. Days on which no Liquor will be Sold by Retail Outlets, Hotel Chains and Restaurants in Delhi, Mumbai, NCR and other Cities in 2023 India

 

Dry Days in 2023 in India

What is a Dry Day?:- When Alcohol Sale / Serving is Ban. There are 3 Types of Dry Days

National Dry Day (^^)Where both Sale of Alcohol by Wine Shops / Liquor Shops/ Serving and /or Sale or Serving of Alcohol by Pubs, Hotels, Restaurants in all forms is Prohibited in all Cities / States of India. India has 3 National Dry Days :- Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti.

Other Dry Day: But - other than these 3 National Dry Days on other dry days - Sale of Alcohol is banned and thus Liquor Shops are closed, but Hotels, Bars and Restaurants can serve in Alcohol within there premises (unless a Notification came from State Excise department came in for Stopping sale of Alcohol)

State Level Dry Day: Apart from it - Sale of Alcohol / Serving of Alcohol by Pubs. Hotels, Restaurants will also be banned on State Election Day if any in respective States. 

2023 Elections to be Held in: 

  • Meghalya - Feb 2023 to March
  • Tripura - Feb 2023 to March 2023
  • Nagaland - Feb 2023 to March 2023
  • Karnataka - May 2023
  • Telangana - November to December 2023
  • Madhya Pradesh - November to December 2023

where Dry Day will be complete observed in above State on Election Day of Constituency with Sale of Liquor Banned in all Pubs, Hotels and Bars.

15th February Swami Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti
18th February Maha Shivaratri
19th February Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti
8th March Holi
30th March Ram Navami
4th April Mahavir Jayanti
7th April Good Friday
14th April Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti
22nd April Idu'l Fitr
1st May Maharashtra Day (For Mumbai, Pune and Cities in Maharashtra)
5th May Buddha Purnima
28th June Bakri Eid
29th June Ashadi Ekadashi (Only in Maharashtra - Mumbai, Pune and other Cities)

Except 26th January, 15th August and 2nd October and Elections as Dry Day in which Alcohol Sale is ban through Retail Shops, Bars and Hotels, but in most of the other dry Days Restaurants, Hotels and Bars are Open can serve in Beer, Whisky etc. May check with Nearby Bar on same.

  

Legal Age of Drinking in India

Surprisingly - Legal Drinking Age Varies in States in India. While Drinking Alcohol is allowed from age of 18 yrs in Goa - same is permitted from age of 25 in Delhi. While - as per Law in Maharashtra (Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur etc) - for alcohol consumption - a person should carry a liquor license obtained from Civil Hospital in Maharashtra.

» Age of 18 - Sikkim, UP, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Pondicherry

» Age of 25 - Punjab, Chandigarh, Meghalaya, Haryana, Maharashtra

» Age of 21 - Delhi and Rest all other States, Only Beer in Maharashtra

Alcohol Sale Banned in - Bihar, Andaman & Nicobar Island, Gujarat, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Mizoram

Drinking & Driving Offence

Drunken Driving is a Serious Offence in which Court Challan Provision along with Impoundment of Vehicle is Provision is there. Repeat Offense will be Rs. 10,000 Fine + upto 2 yrs Imprisonment. Apart from Fine - Its Risky for Self Own Life to do drunken driving

Offence is applicable for any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving found to have an BAC - Blood alcohol Content level exceeding 30 mg per 100 ml of blood detected by a breath analyzer
