EV Car Policy in Gujarat

EV - Electric Vehicles shaping future with aggressive schemes by Government. Now Gujarat Government came up with a Policy which announces incentive with maximum limit as

  • Rs 20,000 for Electric 2 Wheeler
  • Rs 50,000 for Electric 3 Wheeler
  • Rs 1.5 Lakh for Electric 4 Wheeler (essentially cars) with maximum ex-showroom Price of Rs 15 Lakh

Subsidy Term States: Either Rs 10,000 per Kw upto maximum limit as capped above would be what available as Incentive for EV Segment Buyers in Gujarat

Adding on - an emphasis raised on setting up EV charging station with planned 500 Charging Stations on Highway so that Motorist should not face any issue for doing long distance travel. Also, no Electricity duty will be charged on setting up EV charging stations in Gujarat

Lastly - there will be few designated slots in Malls in priority Parking locations to be exclusive set for EV Cars and Bikes. 

Overall - a proposed target of 870 Crore of Subsidy is what proposed to be offered in state.

How will Subsidy Incentive be Offered in Gujarat

Once Car bought by resident of Gujarat and registered in Gujarat with GJ Registration series - upto Rs 20,000 for Electric 2 Wheeler, Rs 50,000 for Electric 3 Wheeler and Rs 1.5 Lakh for Electric 4 Wheeler as subsidy incentive will be credited to Bank Account of Buyer

 

Other States, Union Territories Offering Subsidy on EV

After Delhi, Maharastra, Bihar - Gujarat is latest entrant offering rebate incentive on buying EV. Also, no registration fee will be what imposed on buying EV in Gujarat.

 

Present EV Cars on Sale

As of now there are 5 EV Cars for Mass Market apart from Luxury Segment. But Subsidy wont be offered to all

  • Tata Tigor EV for Commercial Segment
  • Tata Nexon EV
  • MG Zs EV
  • Hyundai Kona

However, only Tigor EV and Nexon EV which is priced upto Rs 15 Lakh would be what eligible for Incentive.

I would like to know about Tata Nexon EV. Is it worth spending 15-16 lakh on a EV Car at this point of time in India rather purchasing other ICE SUVs with Automatic.
