No More Handling Charge on Tata Cars. MyCarHelpline Campaign Wins

No More Dealer Handling Charge, Logistic Charge going forward be applicable on Tata Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, Nexon, Harrier after MyCarHelpline Consumer Awareness Social Media Campaign wins

No More Dealer Handling Charge

Tata Motors silently removed in dubious Dealer Handling Charge, Logistic Charge from its Car Range effective 10th August 2020 on Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, Nexon and Harrier which was long been imposed as

  • Rs 6500 on Hatchback Cars
  • Rs 9500 on SUV Cars

This was the charge as was in the Price List for Years and we at MyCarHelpline Time and again opposed this kind of Handling Charge as was marked Illegal and Arbitrary in Various Judgements considering fact that cars are been sold on Ex-showroom Price and not Ex-Stockyard Price

Why Handling Charges. Logistic Charges are Illegal

In a Landmark Judgement in case of 'Manish Kumar Goyal Vs Dada Motors' cited 21st April 2017 - State Consumer Redressal Commission, Chandigarh observed that such Handling Charge, Logistic Charges

  • Do not Frame in under provision of any Motor Vehicle Act

and charging such Logistic Charges only amounts to unfair Trade Practices.  Even after same the said Handling Chargs been charged. Infact there are many Media Reports too citing such charge as Illegal been communicated by Transport Department

While Dealer Team also used to confirm that such Handling Charge includes Partially Fuel Cost from transporting Car from Stockyard to Showroom, but refer Supreme Court thrashes the argument of lawyer

MyCarHelpline Social Media Campaign for Consumer Awareness on Dealer Handling Charge

Team MyCarHelpline understood that when dealer showrooms are selling car on ex-showroom Price - how can they claim Warehouse Transportation, Warehouse Fuel Cost over and above Ex-showroom Price and thus took it as a campaign and showed to customers that by pitching it correctly with Dealer and Manufacturer team highlighting that

  • Such Handling, Logistic Charges are been marked Illegal as per Recent Court Judgement
  • Highlighting Sources where such charges are marked Illegal

can waive on Handling Charge. Refer Videos where Video Titled 'Car Dealer Loot' garnered over 4.9 Lakh Views within 6 Months and over 38000 People Liked and Shared Video.

Immediate response - scores of customers confirmed that they too were able to get the handling charge waived by using sources in the video and saved there money

Tata Price Hike

Tata Motors also announced Price Hike on

  • Tiago
  • Altroz
  • Nexon Petrol
  • Harrier

Also, no Change in Prices of

  • Nexon Diesel,

while announced a Price Redudtion in

  • Tata Tigor

As per Statement from OEM - "This revision in prices is considering evolving market conditions, changes in input costs and other economic factors."

To be noted that - Every Manufacturer do Periodic correction of 2 to 3 Price Hikes every Calendar Year. Last Month in July 2020 Ford India announced a price hike of Rs 10,000 on Petrol Cars and sharp Rs 30,000 on Diesel Cars. Also Toyota too announced Price Hike.

In terms of Tata Cars, Last Price Hike was done in February 2020 by Tata Motors when it introduced in BS6 Range of Cars, and after around 6 Months announced a Price Hike

Due to Depreciating Rupee, Change in Input Costs - Price Hike was inevitable. It would be incorrect to link Dealer Handling Charges as been merged under Price Hike, as Competition Brands too considering Price hike due to devaluating Ruppee and we may witness same by September 2020 in most of the car range.

Even after threatening car dealers saying that handling charges is against the rule of land, they just do not care.
I really do not want to start the negotiation or conversation with the sales manger with a possible consumer court case threatening.
When they will delete permanently this column? Is there any other way out ? How knowing honorable Supreme Court judgment and so many consumer cases around, dealers have the audacity to keep this component in price list ?
Clearly shows majority are not aware of news or they just don't care paying for it.

I have booked Hyundai Creta EX Petrol and they are charging handling charges of Rs.3000/-.

I explained the same things as given in this article, even I wrote to direct Hyundai India in email but nobody ready to give me the rebate.

They are still charging handling charges and also told me that we will give you the bill and it is chargeable as per company's brochure also.

What can I do now?

The price has been hiked at basic price and removed the handling charges dont see any great thing happening in this process may be we have saved few thousands, 3k or 4k, for a person shelling out 10lakhs 3k or 4k should not make any difference...

No need to be too happy. See the difference between new and old prices...the difference is still 6000 bucks. It means that tata has increased price by 6000 on an average which basically includes handling charges. the relief is merely 3000.

This is wrong, handling charges are still there but added to ex showroom price directly. I have booked Nexon XZ petrol on 23rd July and the price was 10.78 lakh (ex showroom + handling + RT + insurance+accessories) and now it went to 10.94 lakh (ex showroom + RT+insurance + accessories). TATA motors price itself increased and with that hike they played this handling charges removing tactic.

Hi - Price hike is separate, its a ritual by every car manufacturer by revising prices 2 to 3 times a year
Like Ford India did in July by increasing Petrol car prices by upto Rs 10,000 and Diesel Model by Rs 30,000
In CY 2020 it was last in Feb 2020 when TML prices were increased. It was much anticipated to be done in August, and even by the time September comes you will find other OEM to follow same too.

Also, in current price revision - Tigor prices are actually slashed, Nexon xe petrol price hiked by rs 4000 and Nexon diesel is unchanged, but handling charge do not feature in any of model variants irrespective of price hike/ reduced/ unchanged.

Its just that
